After publishing more than 800 interviews through his website, For Bass Players Only, it’s only fitting to point the microphone towards Jon Liebman and hear his side of the story. Interviewing famous players is only part of that story.
And what a story! From growing up with a backstage pass to the birth of rock and roll radio, to a very impressive education and playing career, to creating the website For Bass Players Only, the story twists and turns and lands in some pretty inspiring places. Jon’s bass instruction books have sold hundreds of thousands of copies all over the world. His online instruction has also attracted members from around the world and helped in the neighbourhood of 130,000 people learn bass. And he can back that all up with world class bass chops. Being at the top of the game in any one of those areas is a feat, for Jon to juggle all three makes him pretty rare commodity. I like Jon’s story for a lot of reasons. It’s one of those where at first glance, you can’t imagine how someone has ended up where they are, with the success they’ve achieved. But, when you look back, and dig a little deeper, it all makes sense and you realize that Jon is not only the perfect person, but the only person who could have put all the pieces together and created what he’s managed to create. I hope that’s not being too cryptic. I don’t want to give too much away and Jon’s such a great storyteller, I’ll leave the best parts for him to share. Be sure to check out For Bass Players Only and Jon’s new mini-course Easy Bass, which he’s making available totally free. I hope you enjoy. |
